THE International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Dial Honour Consultancy are set to assist start-up entrepreneurs in Bulawayo after hosting a training workshop in Zimbabwe’s second largest city.
The ILO’s mandate includes promoting decent work by equipping individuals with the essential knowledge, skills and aptitudes required for effective financial management.
Speaking to Southern Eye yesterday, Dial Honour Consultancy director Shadreck Zhou said the aim of the workshop was to promote rights at work while encouraging decent employment.
“The seminar is expected to boost start-up entrepreneurs so that their fears vanish. From Monday to Thursday, the lessons will have removed fear from the entrepreneurs,” he said.
ILO co-ordinator Fortune Sithole said the project focused on improving financial management skills for the entrepreneurs who were on the path of growth but lacked essential skills.
“People must not be discouraged thinking their small businesses will take them nowhere. Sis Bee's kitchen started small but it is a motive as the business has gained a lot of customers and it is big,” Sithole said.
He said young people were facing the challenge of having wild dreams which ended up affecting their small businesses.
“It is part of this training to take away the wild dreams so that these start-up entrepreneurs do not stick to one goal but have different sub-goals,” he said.
