A woman from Lupane in Matabeleland North allegedly smashed to death her 14-month-old child on the rock, and hid the corpse under her bed.
This was heard when Patience Gelly Moyo (22) appeared before Lupane resident magistrate Barbra Phiri facing murder charges.
Moyo was remanded in custody to October 1, and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
Prosecutor Clive Gumbo alleged that on September 6 in the morning, Moyo went outside the kitchen with her son and later smashed him on a rocky surface.
The child died on the spot.
She took the corpse into her bedroom hut where she hid it under her bed.
She later informed her mother-in-law that her child had died.
A report was made to the police leading to her arrest.
