A 19-year-old man from Gokwe has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping his 11-year-old sister.
The incident happened in Chief Njelele's area two months ago.
The court heard that on the fateful night, the perpetrator broke into his sister's bedroom hut and raped her after gagging her mouth with a blanket.
The victim disclosed the abuse to her elder sister the following day, leading to the teenager's arrest.
In a related development, a 47-year-old Nyabira man was recently sentenced to a 17-year jail sentence for raping his neighbour's eight-year-old daughter on June 8 this year. After the act, he offered her some biscuits to buy her silence
The court heard that the matter came to light after the victim's mother saw her daughter coming out of the perpetrator's bedroom, and quezzed her.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe condemned the acts and appealed to the public to help in protecting children from sexual predators.
