Harare municipality police officers promoted

Harare City Council has elevated eight senior municipal police officers from Chief Inspector to Superintendent during a colorful parade at the force's headquarters.

The promotion ceremony, held at the Municipal Police headquarters in Harare, drew senior city officials including retired Commissioner Obey Law Moyo, acting chief security officer Madison Manyere, and acting chamber secretary Ernest Mushava.

The newly promoted officers are Tawanda Manhando, Ronald Mashavane, Edmore Magenga, Thabani Shiripinda, Mercy Mudzengerere, Tambudze Chinzara, Alfred Marodze, and Ruvengo Moyo.

Councillor Womberaishe Nhende, representing Mayor Jacob Mafume, challenged the promoted officers to continue sharpening their skills and upholding the values of integrity and service.

"This occasion is not only a display of discipline, professionalism and unity but an opportunity to reflect on the important role that Harare Metropolitan Police plays in maintaining order, enforcing municipal by-laws and serving residents of our great city," read Mayor Mafume's address.

"To the promoted officers, I encourage you to continue to develop your skills, uphold the values of integrity and service, and remain ambassadors of excellence within the city."

The Mayor emphasised that the local authority relies on municipal police professionalism to create a safe, orderly, and law-abiding environment that promotes economic growth and enhances the quality of life for all citizens.

He stressed that every interaction with residents should demonstrate courtesy, impartiality, and respect for human dignity, adding that the city expects smart enforcement of municipal by-laws.
