THE release of one of the most notorious and violent criminals in Chitungwiza has left community members shell-shocked.
Residents were surprised to see Alois Luciano, better known as Bla Matsotsi, freely roaming the streets of St Mary’s threatening and robbing people.
He was arrested on October 2 and remanded in custody on October 4 pending investigations into reports that he was facing 15 other counts of robbery and assault, before he was released last Friday.
Bla Matsotsi was supposed to appear in court on Monday, but he absconded.
His luck ran out on Tuesday when he attacked Memory Matanga (25), a pregnant woman, who was visiting her mother in Manyame Park.
“This guy called me to go to where he was standing, to which I refused and kept on walking,” Matanga said.
“He then followed me, attacked me and stabbed me with a knife in the palm of my right hand before trying to snatch my mobile phone.”
Matanga sustained a deep cut in the process. She made a police report after which she was taken to Chitungwiza Central Hospital, where she received treatment.
