City Parking receives ISO certification

HARARE’S vehicle parking management company, City Parking, received International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certificate at a ceremony held in the capital.

HARARE’S vehicle parking management company, City Parking, received International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certificate at a ceremony held in the capital.

Mayor Jacob Mafume hailed council's partnership with City Parking, saying the municipality is eyeing more partnerships in sewer, road rehabilitation, among other infrastructural projects.

“When you build a city and a council, we are not saying that council will do each and every work that is to be done in the city,” he said.

“The work can be done on behalf of the residents, by private companies, government companies and the municipality itself.

“The issue is we have to learn how to divide the work among the various components that make up the city.”

Mafume said council would divert a portion of vehicle parking revenue to road rehabilitation across the city.

“We are going to deal with the pain points that affect our delivery. I know there are a number of pain points that have affected city parking and one of the pain points from the residents has been, ‘okay, we see you are collecting the money, but where is it going? How is it being used?’” he said.

“HCC will reinvest a significant portion of the City Parking revenue to road maintenance so that people can relate to their dollar as they paid it to the improvement of the inner city road network and the traffic lights.”

City Parking managing director Simon Muzviyo also hailed their partnership with the council.

“The ISO certificate is a certificate that ensures that we should up our game in terms of continuous improvement in terms of assistance, then to ensure that we improve in terms of sales, in terms of our customer focus, so that we attain and maintain the certificate,” he said.

“To the outside world, it is a beginning of good things to come.”
