Manicaland gears for 2025 Sanganai/Hlanganani Expo

Tourism and Hospitality Industry minister Barbara Rwodzi.

MANICALAND province has stepped up preparations for the hosting of the prestigious Sanganai/Hlanganani Tourism Expo 2025, scheduled to run from September 10 to 12 at Mutare Sports Club.

This was revealed during a stakeholder meeting held yesterday at Queen’s Hall in Mutare, chaired by the Tourism and Hospitality Industry minister Barbara Rwodzi.

The meeting was aimed at building momentum ahead of the expo and mobilising support from the local tourism sector and business community.

Rwodzi highlighted the importance of working together to position Manicaland as a top tourism destination.

“Collaborative efforts are key in positioning Manicaland as a top tourism destination,” she said. “Local businesses must innovate and enhance their service offerings, including maintaining clean and welcoming accommodation facilities.”

Rwodzi emphasised the importance of tourism funding through the mandatory tourism levy.

“There is a need for stakeholders to remit the 2% tourism levy to ensure sustainable sector development,” she said.

To support the successful hosting of the expo, she announced that the ministry is working on improving infrastructure in Mutare.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry is upgrading key infrastructure in Mutare, including roads, public amenities, the Mutare Sports Club and the Grand Reef Aerodrome,” she said.

These upgrades, she said, were meant to improve accessibility and provide a better experience for exhibitors, buyers and guests from Zimbabwe and beyond.

The Eastern Highlands, known for its lush green hills, majestic mountain ranges and rich cultural heritage, is expected to be a major highlight of this year’s expo.

“The region is ready to host international visitors and demonstrate its potential as a premier tourism destination,” she said.

The Sanganai/Hlanganani Expo is Zimbabwe’s leading international tourism trade fair, drawing participants from across the globe.

The expo is expected to boost business activity, create jobs and place Manicaland firmly on the global tourism map, marking yet another milestone in Zimbabwe’s journey towards becoming a top destination in Africa.
