A 42-year-old man from Bulawayo has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of cocaine possession by a Tredgold magistrate.
Six months were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The conviction follows a co-ordinated operation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Drugs officers.
On February 15, 2025, authorities, acting on a tip-off, conducted surveillance at Smoke House Pub and Grill in Hillside, Bulawayo, a location suspected of drug dealing.
The offender arrived at the venue driving in a Toyota Hilux GD-6 and the detectives moved in.
Upon searching him and his vehicle, officers discovered several sachets of cocaine.
The police also recovered digital scales and razor blades smeared with cocaine residue, indicating involvement in drug preparation or distribution.
“The total quantity of cocaine weighed seven grammes, with an estimated street value of US$480,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said in a statement.
