THE Roman Catholic Church-owned St Paul's Musami Hospital is now a referral medical institution conducting critical medical surgeries among other interventions, a local legislator has said.
Addressing thousands of Zanu PF supporters at Manjoro Primary School recently, Murewa West legislator Farai Jere hailed the second republic led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa for walking the talk in ensuring that St Paul's Musami Hospital gains the latest status.
“I am happy with the positive strides being made by our government towards improving health facilities across the country. Today, I stand tall, telling you that Musami Hospital is now a referral hospital,” he said.
“As of today, I am told that four major surgical operations have been done and all were successful. This is good news and we are happy that as a constituency we are the ones to benefit first.”
St Paul's Musami Hospital is located in Murewa West constituency.
The mission hospital was established in 1923 by the Catholic Archdiocese of Harare, providing healthcare services to the community of Musami and surrounding areas.
The hospital used to refer patients to Marondera Provincial Hospital, Chitungwiza General Hospital, Sally Mugabe Central Hospital and Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
“We are happy that we have state-of-the-art X-ray machines and other medical equipment at Musami Hospital. We now have patients being referred to Musami Hospital from other areas and we say this is a positive development,” Jere said.
