GOKWE, Apr. 5 (NewsDay Live) - An 18-year-old man from Gokwe has been arrested for allegedly raping three of his employer’s children.
The case was confirmed by Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
“Police in Gokwe have arrested a man for raping three girls aged 6 and 7 years, who are his employer’s children, in his room on different occasions.
The suspect, Markwell Machena, from Village Machena, under Chief Nemangwe in Gokwe South, was employed as a domestic worker by the three girls’ mother,” Mahoko said on Thursday.
The names of the mother and the victims cannot be named for ethical reasons.
It is alleged that between March 28 and 30 last month, the suspect raped the juveniles on the same day but on different occasions in his room.
“The matter came to light after their mother found them naked in the suspect’s room and they revealed they had been raped several times by the suspect, whom she had seen leaving the room. The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested,” Mahoko said.
“We take this opportunity to remind parents and guardians of children that they should always monitor them closely when they play and avoid leaving girls in the custody of men.”
