
MBERENGWA, Apr.4 (Newsday Live) - A teacher at Masase High School in Mberengwa, Midlands province, has gone into hiding after sodomising one of his students.
The Lutheran Church-run school confirmed the development in a letter to parents and guardians, adding that the matter has been reported to police and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
"l write with deep sorrow to inform you that allegations of child abuse by one of our staff members was reported.
Currently thorough investigations by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the police are underway.
“The alleged victim was taken to hospital swiftly and was examined by a medical doctor. A police report was filed with the Victim Friendly Unit at Mberengwa Charge Office the same day," the school head only identified as A Masukume wrote in a letter dated April 3, 2025.
"Meanwhile, the alleged perpetrator is not at the station and is being sought after for interrogation so that he responds to the allegations.
”I shall update you in the shortest possible time frame on the findings once the investigations are concluded," the head added.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said he was yet to get the report.
