Call for regional youth collaboration

Zanu PF youth leader Tino Machakaire

THERE is need for regional co-operation in addressing youth challenges such as unemployment, education and economic empowerment.

This was said by South Africa’s African National Congress youth leader, Collen Malatji, who is in Zimbabwe for preparatory meetings ahead of Africa Youth Congress Summit set to take place from May 23 to 26.

“As youth leaders, we must take an active role in shaping policies that drive economic growth, peace and sustainable development,” Malatji, who arrived in Zimbabwe on Tuesday, said.

He is expected to hold discussions with various youth organisations, government officials and his counterparts in the ruling Zanu PF party.

The discussions will focus on key logistical aspects of the upcoming summit, as well as strategies to enhance youth participation in governance and economic transformation.

Zanu PF youth leader Tino Machakaire said youth leadership was critical in ensuring that young people were at the forefront of shaping Africa’s future.

“The summit will provide a platform to address economic opportunities, entrepreneurship and the role of youth in driving the African Continental Free Trade Area agenda,” he said.

The summit is expected to attract a diverse range of participants, including government representatives, business leaders and civil society organisations.

Organisers indicated that discussions will cover a wide array of topics, including digital innovation, climate change resilience and strategies for enhancing youth-led development projects.

The summit is expected to come up with actionable resolutions aimed at empowering young people to take leadership roles in their respective countries.
