Zimbabwe’s top chrome mining and smelting company, Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd, has reported two prominent lawyers Wilson Manase and Valentine Kwande to the Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) for alleged unethical conduct.
In a letter dated March 21, 2025 and addressed to the LSZ secretary, the Zimasco management alleged that the two lawyers conducted themselves unprofessionally in a High Court matter where the company is fighting its hostile takeover by Avim Investments fronted by businessman Shephard Tundiya.
"The complaint is made against them jointly as they have been involved together in an unethical scheme to illegally takeover the operations of our company Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd," the management said.
The company claimed that the lawyers assisted Avim Investments to obtain a "fraudulent " court order to place Sinosteel-Zimasco, a separate company from Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd, under corporate rescue.
High Court judge Justice Mambara who granted the court order is now under investigation by the Judicial Service Commission after Zimasco reported him for "unethical" conduct.
