Fundira who is currently based in the UK, was nominated for this prestigious award following his successful completion of the Incorporated Professional Review, which earned him the status of an Incorporated Engineer.
This achievement is not only a significant milestone in his career but also an inspiration to aspiring engineers, particularly those from Zimbabwe and other underrepresented communities.
His win is a testament to his hard work and commitment to the engineering profession.
In addition to the Tony Chapman Medal, Fundira has also been nominated for the Baroness Platt of Writtle Award, which celebrates outstanding engineering achievements. He has been awarded a £1,000 cash prize and has the potential to receive another £1,000 prize if he wins the Baroness Platt of Writtle Award.
Reflecting on his achievement, Fundira highlighted that his dedication and success demonstrate the impact that engineering can have on society and the environment.
“I am thankful to God, who has honored me with this award. I’m thankful that through the gift of problem-solving, He was able to use my skills through engineering to impact people and the planet in a positive way. To be recognized for it is something special. Hopefully, this will inspire more engineers who look like me to know that anything is possible.”
