HARARE, Mar. 24 (NewsDay Live) – Leader of Johhane the Fifth of Africa, Archbishop Andby Makururu says the country should focus on the future and not the planned March 31 protests against President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his government.
Makururu dismissed the protests as anti-progress.
He made the remarks Monday in an interview with NewsDay Live in the capital.
Outspoken war veteran Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has called for nationwide protests on March 31 calling on Mnangagwa should resign for failing to preside over the country.
Geza recently appeared on social media clad in military fatigue calling for protests.
However, Makururu, who has previously led national prayer sessions, said there is a need to maintain peace in the country.
“We do not need such things (protests) in our country. Let’s focus on building our country. Let’s focus on Vision 2030,” he said.
“These protesters are looters. I tend to believe that Zimbabweans are known to be hardworking people in the world. We should be able to work with President Emmerson Mnangagwa to achieve our vision 2030.”

Makururu urged the nation to focus on the vision 2030, adding that Mnangagwa was anointed by God to lead the country: “So why protesting against him? I don’t see such a thing happening.”
He added: “I am always worried with people who are attacking such a visionary leader like President Emmerson Mnangagwa.”
Police is on high alert ahead of the protests and Zanu PF youths have threatened to quell the protests.
Makururu has been seen with Mnangagwa at the State House on several occasions.
