HARARE, Feb 18 (NewsDayLive)- Zimbabwe requires about US$23 million to complete demining operations in the affected areas, NewsDay has learnt.
Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri said this during a three- day national stakeeholder dialogue on humanitarian demining and victim assistance meeting in Harare.
Most landmines were laid in the country's borders in the 1970s by the colonial white minority government to deter freedom fighters from coming back to execute the war of liberation.
Approximately 18,3km² of the land on the country's borderline remains infested with landmines.
