Twenty-four people died while several others were injured

BEITBRIDGE,  Feb 13 (NewsDayLive)- Twenty-four people died, 17 of them on the spot, while several others were injured when a Harare-bound Urban Connect but collided with a haulage truck at the 262-lilometre peg along the Masvingo -Beitbridge Highway Thursday morning.

Police blamed the bus driver for allegedly encroaching into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a haulage truck belonging to Auro Transport.

"The number of the injured is yet to be established . The bodies of the victims were taken to Beitbridge District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem while the injured are admitted at the same hospital," said the police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi in a statement.
