HARARE, Feb 7 (NewsDay Live) - Leader of the Johanne the Fifth of Africa International Church Andby Makururu has said the church has a huge role to play in praying for peace and stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Makururu told NewsDayLive on Friday that he had received a message from God that the war in the DRC should end as it is threatening to destabilise the region.
Makururu made the remarks in an interview with NewsDay in Mutare.
“I am going to pray for DRC because this war is affecting the region and Africa as a whole,” he said.
“What we need in Africa is peace.
“We are aware that Americans are funding our own people to fight against each other.”
Added Makururu: “God has told me that this war must stop with immediate effect. Churches and us church leaders need to pray against what is happening.
“Mozambique is another classic example where the sponsored opposition tried to start war in that country.”
