
KAROI, Feb 4 (NewsDay Live) - A 20-year-old Karoi man, has been sentenced to three years in prison for attempted murder after he stabbed his uncle following a dispute over a communal well.
In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said, on September 30 last year at Madimu village, Courage Kambarami confronted his uncle Clive Kambarami over a communal well dug on his family property.
“The argument escalated and the offender bit the complainant on the chest and stabbed him three times with a knife on the neck, shoulder and back,” said the NPAZ.
Meanwhile, a Harare woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for buying and trafficking a two-day-old infant from South Africa to Zimbabwe.
“The mother sold the infant to the offender who transported the infant across borders,” said the NPAZ in a statement.
The court considered special circumstances, including the offender's misunderstanding of adoption laws, her naivety, and the biological mother's role in the commission of the crime.
