Late top spy’s mother Gogo Muzariri dies in deplorable state

Karanda Hospital in Mt Darwin

MOTHER of the feared late director-general of the Central Intelligence Organisation, Livingstone Maynard Muzariri, Gogo Tarima Muzariri has died.

She was 112.

Gogo Muzariri died on Tuesday at the height of an estate wrangle between her son’s widow Esther and his son Tatenda.

She was admitted to Karanda Hospital in Mt Darwin.

Muzariri left a behemoth of wealth, running into millions of United States dollars, with property investments in the Borrowdale district of Harare.

However, according to Lovemore Muzariri, a family member, his widow Esther put the wealth on lockdown soon after his death, cutting ties with his relatives.

“Gogo Tamari Muzariri was in a deplorable state. We had to take her to Karanda Hospital last week after she suffered a seizure,” Lovemore said.

“Unfortunately, we failed to raise funds to get her proper medication. The sad reality is that uncle Maynard used to look after his mother very well when he was alive.

“In fact, she had a nurse aid who was dedicated to taking care of her. Unfortunately, after his passing, his wife and son Tatenda started fighting for the wealth and no one was now looking after Gogo.”

He added that while Gogo Muzariri gave birth to a number of children, Maynard was the breadwinner, and everyone looked up to him.

Six of her children are now late.

Efforts to get comment from Tatenda and Esther were fruitless as the former refused to entertain the Press while the latter was not reachable.

The two are locked in a fierce battle that has seen Esther called in for questioning after selling stands belonging to the estate before it has even been dissolved.
