We got it wrong
On July 25, 2024, NewsDay published a story titled Court rejects mining NEC, constitution, salary deal.
In the story, we reported that the High Court had declared the National Employment Council for the Mining Industry (NEC Mining) constitution and collective bargaining agree-ment on salaries and wages null and void.
It has come to our attention that while there was a Chinhoyi High Court order against NEC Mining and other two respond-ents, the order was for a separate matter and had nothing to do with the NEC Mining constitution and collective bargaining agreement on salaries and wages. That case is still pending be-fore the courts.
We, therefore, retract the statement and apologise unreserv-edly to NEC Mining and its stakeholders for any inconvenience caused by the publication.
