A 45-YEAR-OLD man has appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court facing a charge of murder.
Job Vambe appeared before Harare magistrate Simon Kandiyero, who remanded him in custody to tomorrow for referral to the High Court.
Appearing for the State, prosecutor Thomas Chanakira alleged that Vambe and his accomplices robbed Wellington Marongedze at his house on July 11, 2019.
The suspected robbers forced open Marongedze’s bedroom door and assaulted him with iron bars and a golf club all over his body demanding money.
One of the accused persons fired a shot into the roof threatening Marongedze and his wife to hand over all the money and valuables they had.
Seeing that the assaults were not stopping, Marongedze directed Vambe and his colleagues to his car, where they took US$1 000 that was in the dashboard.
It is alleged that they went away leaving Marongedze seriously injured, after which he was rushed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
Marongedze succumbed to the injuries two weeks later.
