The Anglican Diocese of Manicaland has sought God's intervention praying for an accident-free festive season.
Twenty-two people died on the spot while two others were critically injured after a Toyota Quantum with 21 passengers on board was involved in a head-on collision with a truck last week.
The accident occurred at the 27-kilometre peg along Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road.
Anglican Diocese of Manicaland Bishop Eric Ruwona said explained that accidents occurring on most parts of the highways were spiritually caused.
“With the festive season Christmas and New year upon us, we are praying that no blood will be spilled during the festive season," Ruwona said.
"This November have not been a good month for all of us in the country as we have seen a lot of accidents and lost lives on our roads."
Ruwona added: "We call upon other church leaders to pray for an accident-free festive season to curtail road carnage.
“As Anglican Diocese of Manicaland, we will also continue with our charitable works during the holidays. We need to show love to the disadvantaged persons of our society."

The church’s arm, the Mothers Union which is led by Ruwona’s wife Eunice, has also played a key role in charitable works.
