Alaine celebrates love, culture, unity in Harare debut

The Jamaican reggae star arrived in Zimbabwe full of praise for the warm reception, describing her visit as both inspiring and spiritually meaningful.

HARARE, Apr. 3 (NewsDay Live) – Alaine has promised a night of “love, rhythm and connection” when she makes her Harare debut at the Harare International Conference Centre for the Afro Culture Connect concert this Saturday.

The Jamaican reggae star arrived in Zimbabwe full of praise for the warm reception, describing her visit as both inspiring and spiritually meaningful.

“It was just the best day… in one of the best countries in the world… I’m so glad to be here,” she said.

Best known for hits including No Ordinary Love, Sacrifice and Deeper, Alaine headlines a diverse lineup featuring Jah Prayzah, Feli Nandi, 96, Queen Kadjah and DJ Mox, alongside Anisha Ts.

The singer, who transitioned from investment banking to music after her 2005 breakthrough, said her journey has been guided by faith and gratitude.

“The people have been so warm and welcoming. I recognise God’s hand in everything… being here is part of God’s plan.”

She promised fans a performance filled with “positive energy and musicality,” urging them to embrace the moment and “just enjoy ourselves.”

DJ Mox, who chaired the media briefing, described the event as more than a concert—positioning it as a celebration of cultural fusion and artistic collaboration.

Queen Kadjah pledged an energetic set, promising “fireworks” and “good vibes,” while rising artist 96 said the show marks a turning point in his career as he prepares to perform live with a band for the first time.

Event coordinator Godfather Templeman highlighted the show’s genre diversity, blending reggae, dancehall, hip-hop, Afro sounds and jazz, alongside a platform for emerging talent.

Organisers from Massive Events confirmed readiness, citing tight security, efficient ticketing and smooth entry processes. Strong demand has already seen VIP tickets sell out, with phase two now on sale.

During the Q&A, Alaine credited her longevity to consistency and a message rooted in love.

“People will never get tired of love… I just try to stay creative.”

She also revealed a Zimbabwean collaboration is in progress, hinting at a return to the country in the near future.

Afro Culture Connect is shaping up as a vibrant celebration of music, unity and cross-cultural exchange—headlined by an artist whose message continues to resonate across borders.
