THE Zimbabwean music scene is about to witness a fresh wave of talent as 22-year-old singer-songwriter Xantel, born Chantel Gugulethu Sibanda, makes her official debut with Icebo.

A fusion of Afro-pop and Afro-soul, the song delivers a powerful message of hope and divine guidance, resonating with anyone who feels lost or overwhelmed.

Based in Nketa, Bulawayo, Xantel has been steadily carving her path in the industry, blending emotive vocals with introspective and thought-provoking lyrics.

Her music explores themes of love, self-discovery, empowerment and encouragement, making her a voice to watch in Africa’s ever-evolving soundscape.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Xantel said her journey had already taken her beyond Zimbabwe’s borders, with a notable performance in Turkey that ignited her passion.

"Now, with Icebo, I offer a deeply personal yet universally relatable anthem that reassures listeners that no matter how dark the times, there’s always a way forward,” Xantel said.

Xantel said she was set to capture the hearts of music lovers across Africa and beyond, especially those drawn to soulful African sounds, cultural fusion and meaningful storytelling.

"With my debut single marking the start of what promises to be an exciting career, I am proof that Zimbabwe’s music scene continues to produce artistes with global potential,” she said.

Xantel said Icebo was set for release and music lovers should stay tuned for a fresh sound that soothes to the soul.
