Chinese company Rokid tips creatives to enhance imaginatives through AI

Rokid was established in 2014 and has grown over a decade to become a global leader in AR technology.

ADVANCEMENT in technologies must not restrict people from being realistic and adopting sustainable approaches to their own contexts.

Instead, technology should enhance a people’s togetherness.

This was said by award-winning professor of communication at the Communication University of Zhezhiang, Fang Jianyi, while delivering a lecture on Communication effects and Talent Development in the Era of Fragmented Media to visiting Omni Media journalists from African English speaking countries.

He urged the visiting journalists to minimise focus on political and economic limelight and get closer to their communities.

In his lengthy lecture, he opined that integrity of journalism is optimised through telling correct and accurate stories.

Fang added that communication  was still far from being ideal. He said there was need for audience research and an audience-oriented approach to help positively impact communities

He also said good knowledge foundations for journalist reporting are achieved through continuous learning and research on artificial intelligence (AI) and other disciplines that support their natural career development.

After Fang's lecture journalists were taken to Rokid a globally renowned company which specialises in artificial realities (AR) products.

The tour of Rokid provoked the mind to think closely about best practices on embracing AI systems in journalism.

AI can be used in journalism in many ways, including automated reporting and writing news articles for routine topics freeing, journalists to work on more complex stories.

With this understanding, it, therefore, means the integrity of a journalist’s work is further enhanced by a grassroots approach which analyses data or conversations from various sources on a subject of concern.

NewsDay Life & Style was inspired by Rokid’s success story designing AR glasses and systems for the Zhezhiang Provincial Museum and several other cultural sites in the Zhezhiang province of China.

Earlier in the year, the National Gallery of Zimbabwe on National Museums Day had an exhibition which featured AR technologies.

Resources permitting, the Zimbabwe National Museum and Heritage Centre should take steps towards technological advancement.

Rokid story on AI in Zim,

Africa

Rokid defines the solution for galleries and museums as AI+AR solution for digital culture industry.

The solution includes three parts: (1) AR glasses, model: Rokid AR Studio; (2) digital contents of exhibits; and (3) AI+AR platform for integrating digital contents of exhibits with the devices.

The platform includes tools to put contents to the AR glasses and tools with AI to do training of exhibits recognition.

In projects of galleries and museums, we normally co-operate with local partners to implement solution to real sites.

The local partners should be professional in creating digital content and negotiating with the final clients.
