NATIONAL University of Science and Technology FM DJ Shiz Moz says his dreams are bigger than radio and has tapped into music production and recording. The Journalism and Media Studies final year student says he has much more to offer.
Shiz Moz, real name Mgcini Ndlovu is a radio disc jockey, actor and singer. He told NewsDay Life & Style that he aspires to be a crowd puller.
“Performing in front of an audience is my major aspiration. I would love to showcase my talent in various settings, from local gigs and open mic nights to larger concerts and festivals. I even dream of touring internationally and reaching a wider fan base. I also aspire to make a positive impact through my music, by spreading messages of love, unity and social change or by providing comfort and inspiration to listeners,” he said.
He has so far penetrated other local airwaves with his songs.
“I have hits that have topped charts in the local radio stations (Skyz Metro FM and Khulumani FM). These songs include —Buyekhaya ft Fab G, Umdlwenguli ft Sitsha, Nguye ft Mzistozz and Iztayila Zonke. I want to gain recognition for my work and achieve success in the music industry. I want to receive awards, continue topping charts, secure record deals and build a dedicated fan base that appreciates and supports my music," Shiz Moz said.
He acknowledged artistes in the industry he would want to collaborate with.
“There is a pool of talented artistes in Bulawayo and all of them are exceptional. I respect everyone who is working hard to keep the music industry in Bulawayo breathing. It is hard for me to choose who I want to collaborate with because we have great artistes with unique styles in Bulawayo who are all doing well. However, if given an opportunity, I would appreciate working with Khwezi ZW, Amany, Vuyo Brown and Awakhiwe,” Shiz Moz said.
"People should expect an album this year that I’m currently working on it. The album will come out later this year and it's mainly focusing on social issues. Most tracks are digital maskandi and there are few afro-pop tracks as well. I will also make sure that I do music videos as well for most of the songs in the album.”

He bemoaned the challenges facing the music industry saying one has to shape up or ship out. “It is filled with a tonne of challenges especially if you are still trying to create a name.
"The first challenge is financing. It is hard to pay for features if you do not have money. It is also a struggle to make music videos,” Shiz Moz said.
