Real Equatorial Guinea Magazine celebrated its tenth anniversary with an institutional event in Malabo. A tribute was paid to a decade of commitment to information, key contributors were recognized, and a documentary was screened portraying the milestones, challenges, and achievements of the media outlet since its founding in 2015.

Real Equatorial Guinea Magazine (RREG) celebrated its tenth anniversary this Sunday with an emotional institutional event that brought together government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, collaborating companies, journalists, and friends of the media outlet.

The event, which took place at the Bisila Palace Hotel in Malabo, served as a space to review the magazine's journey since its founding in July 2015, as well as to pay tribute to those who have supported the project during its ten years of existence.

The celebration was presided over by its founder and general director, Milagrosa Adá Micha Abesó, who opened the event with a personal and sincere speech, in which she shared the origins of the magazine, born from a specific need: to make the true image of Equatorial Guinea visible to the world. This information gap motivated her to start a project with a vocation for service and for the country.

"When I was studying in China, my classmates constantly asked me what country I was from. I would answer: 'Equatorial Guinea,' but most of them had never heard of it. When searching for information on the internet, we sometimes found information that didn't reflect the reality of our country, or simply didn't find anything relevant. That's when I felt the need to create a medium that would give visibility to Equatorial Guinea and tell our own story," she explained.

"That's how I came up with the idea of creating something that would show the world the true image of Equatorial Guinea. A magazine that would also tell the good things that happen here, that would provide a unique and responsible perspective." The founder recalled that the magazine began publishing in 2015 in Chinese, Spanish, and English, and that it made the leap to digital format in 2020.

During the event, a commemorative documentary was screened that reviewed key moments in the history of the media outlet: from its humble beginnings, its editorial achievements, to the challenges overcome over the years. The audiovisual material included interviews, archival footage, and excerpts from early coverage, as well as messages of support from readers and contributors.

Next, a representative from the Ministry of Information, Press, and Culture spoke, delivering a congratulatory message on behalf of the Minister of State, Jerónimo Osa Osa Ecoro, recognizing the magazine's work in strengthening the country's media landscape.

One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of certificates of recognition to companies, embassies, contributors, and public entities that have been part of RREG's journey. Among those honored were GETESA, CCEIBANK GE, INEGE, BANGE, BANGE Sociedad de Valores, UNGE, GITGE, the Turkish Embassy, and figures who have actively contributed since the project's inception.

The event also included spontaneous moments of gratitude from attendees who shared memories of the publication's history, highlighting the years of selfless work by many young people who believed in the dream since its first printed editions.

The day concluded with the traditional toast and cake cutting, in a festive atmosphere that combined emotion, institutional pride, and motivation to continue growing.

Although the magazine's official founding date was July 26, 2015, the commemorative event was held on Sunday, July 27, to facilitate the attendance of guests and celebrate this milestone in a special way.

With this celebration, Real EG Magazine reaffirms its commitment to providing serious, constructive, and professional reporting and to remaining a strong voice in the Equatorial Guinea media landscape.
