STANBIC Bank Zimbabwe has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the lives of children living with correctible disabilities by donating US$22 500 to the CURE Children’s Hospital of Zimbabwe (CCHOZ) in Bulawayo.

The donation has cemented the partnership between Stanbic Bank and CURE, which was established in 2023, with the Standard Bank Group subsidiary committing to make it an annual event.

Stanbic Bank committed to support life-changing surgical interventions for 15 children suffering from various correctible disabilities, including bowed legs, knocked knees, clubfoot, brittle bone disease, Weinsperger syndrome, acute trauma, burns, and contractures.

Through this continued partnership, Stanbic Bank ensures that children with these conditions from all over the country are given a second chance at life through safe and timely surgery.

A Stanbic Bank delegation, led by board chairman Muchakanakirwa Mkanganwi and executive director, corporate and investment banking Betty Murambadoro, was taken on a guided tour of the hospital by CCHOZ executive director Jonathan Simpson.

The delegation saw first-hand the significant impact the donation by Stanbic Bank had on the lives of young patients as well as their families.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mkanganwi expressed Stanbic Bank’s gratitude in supporting such a meaningful initiative.

“We are incredibly moved by the stories of resilience and transformation we’ve seen here. CURE’s work is deeply inspiring, and as Stanbic Bank, we are honoured to play a part in restoring hope and dignity to these children and their families,” Mkanganwi said.

He said it was pleasing to note that the partnership between Stanbic Bank and CURE is already bearing fruit, giving children the opportunity to live healthier, more fulfilling lives and restoring hope for families across Zimbabwe.

Mkanganwi said Stanbic Bank’s commitment to donating annually to CURE is part of its broader corporate social investment agenda, which focuses on improving lives through access to quality healthcare, education, and financial inclusion.

Simpson acknowledged the bank’s continued commitment and the difference it makes.

“Stanbic Bank’s support goes beyond the operating theatre — it restores futures. Every dollar of this donation translates into renewed mobility, confidence, and opportunity for a child. We are grateful for a partner who not only invests in health but also in hope,” Simpson said.
