NBS eyes unbanked segment in expansion drive

The NBS Chiredzi branch, located in the Masvingo Province, will serve clients such as farmers, corporate entities, small and medium enterprises and individual customers.

The National Building Society (NBS) is optimistic that its growth strategies will allow it to serve the unbanked population, following the official launch of its new Chiredzi branch.

The NBS Chiredzi branch, located in the Masvingo Province, will serve clients such as farmers, corporate entities, small and medium enterprises and individual customers.

NBS chairperson Shingai Mutumbwa said the bank was optimistic about its future endeavours around innovative projects and technology broadening.

“Looking ahead, we are filled with optimism. We are committed to continued growth, innovation and expansion,” Mutumbwa said in a statement.

“We will continue to invest in technology, broaden our product offerings, and deepen our engagement with the communities we serve.”

He said the Chiredzi branch was a milestone for the society.

“To the Chiredzi community, we extend our hand in partnership. We are here to listen to your needs, serve you, understand your aspirations and work with you to build a brighter future,” Mutumbwa said.

“We are here to bank you, build you and go beyond with you. We will leave no one and no place behind as we forge legacies of financial empowerment.”

He said the launch showed the commitment of the bank’s financial inclusion initiative.

“This day is more than just the launch of a new branch, it is a testament to the society’s commitment to the people of Zimbabwe and dedication to driving financial inclusion and sustainable development across the nation,” Mutumbwa said.

He said this expansion was not just about geographical reach, but about “reaching into the lives of the people here in Chiredzi and Masvingo Province, empowering them to build their futures through affordable housing solutions and financial services” .

“We want to be partners with the community, helping them grow their businesses, and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and individuals alike,” Mutumbwa said.

He said NBS’s focus was customer-centric and that it would support the dreams and aspirations of the Chiredzi community.

NBS managing director Sifiso Mahlangu said: “This launch signifies more than just a new branch. It’s a tangible step towards realising our vision of accessible financial services and affordable housing for all Zimbabweans.

He assured the community that NBS was dedicated to meeting their banking needs and providing necessary solutions.

NBS has been on a growth trajectory and last year launched Lenderspark Finance, a microfinance initiative targeting the financially excluded. It also opened a branch in Bindura as part of its expansion efforts.
