BUY Zimbabwe, in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, will hold its annual Buy Zimbabwe Awards in Harare next month.
The awards honour outstanding companies and individuals each year and are awarded depending on their efforts.
In its latest statement, Buy Zimbabwe general manager Alois Burutsa stated that various organisations have registered for the adjudication processes with their top brands.
“The awards, which honour outstanding companies and individuals in 2023, will be attended by a cross-section of industry players including Buy Zimbabwe members. They will see prizes being awarded in various categories across different value chains after a meticulous adjudication process,” he said.
“Several organisations have already submitted their adjudication forms with prominent brands that have become the hallmarks of Zimbabwe’s greatest products being among them. Some of the country’s most loved brands have shown resilience and tenacity in the face of adverse economic conditions.”
Industry and Commerce minister Sithembiso Nyoni will be the guest of honour.
Burutsa said the awards also seek to advocate for locally produced goods and tax breaks in Africa.
“The awards come at a time when Buy Zimbabwe is pushing for local content rating and certification as well as deepening of weak value chains to effectively compete on the domestic market and the African Continental Free Trade Area,” he said.

The organisation is also encouraging public procurement processes to support local enterprises under the local content policy as it seeks to add impetus to government’s development agenda.
The group recently applauded government for restoring import duties on basic commodities, describing it as a progressive development which will contribute to a fairer competitive landscape for domestically produced goods.
Last year in December, Buy Zimbabwe engaged the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe to prioritise locally-produced goods and services, as it seeks to promote uptake of locally-produced goods.
