THE City of Mutare has acquired three garbage trucks as it intensifies efforts to improve service delivery.
In a statement, the City of Mutare said the trucks were bought using own funds.
"The City of Mutare has received three more brand new refuse compactors bringing to four the number of compactors that were delivered in September 2022. The coming in of the four brings to six the number of reliable refuse compactors in the City," read the statement.
However, the Mutare city was quick to note that they needed 12 more trucks to cover citywide refuse collection.
Mutare Residents and Ratepayers Association coordinator, David Mutambirwa said Mutare city needed a vehicle policy to ensure the trucks are used for the very purpose acquired for.
"There should be a vehicle policy to ensure trucks are used for efficient waste collection so that we have a clean city," he said.
