Norman Mapeza Leaves FC Platinum

Mapeza led the miners to three Premier Soccer League titles and three Castle Challenge Cups, and established Mandava Stadium as a feared venue for rivals.

FC Platinum has parted ways with their three-time title winning coach Norman Mapeza after a difficult two years, bringing to an end a relationship that lasted 10 years over two spells.

Mapeza led the miners to three Premier Soccer League titles and three Castle Challenge Cups, and established Mandava Stadium as a feared venue for rivals.

In a statement posted on Facebook, FC Platinum confirmed Mapeza’s exit, noting that his final appearance came in their match against Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium.

“In August 2014, Mandava Stadium opened its doors to a celebrated football man, Norman Mapeza, ushering in what would become a historic era of success in the Midlands. ‘From his first match to an incredible 360 games at the helm of FC Platinum, Coach Mapeza has embodied the true spirit of what it means to be a Platso,” the club said.

"It has been a decade of glory and transformative football that reshaped our club’s identity. Under his guidance, FC Platinum became the gold standard of Zimbabwean football, fusing flair with grit and stamping a Platinum seal both on and off the pitch, three PSL Championship titles and three Castle Challenge Cups.”

“Beyond the titles and accolades, coach Mapeza built a club culture rooted in discipline, excellence, and belief. The tactical brilliance and dedication not only brought silverware but inspired a generation of young players and fans.”

It said Mapeza’s influence reached far beyond the pitch, nurturing talent, creating opportunities, and uplifting the broader Zvishavane community.

“Over these ten years, we have grown together, reached milestones, and written our own chapter in Zimbabwean football history.”

“From his passion on the touchline to the roar of Mandava Stadium, and making our mark on the African safari, Muchina weMajuzi remains a legendary figure in the story of FC Platinum. As this unforgettable decade comes to a close, we mark the end of an era and the beginning of a legacy.”
