A Harare woman took her husband to court after reporting him to the police for illegal possession of a firearm.
Pardon Zengeni (29) appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo, facing charges of unlawful firearm possession.
He was granted bail set at US$50 or its equivalent in local currency.
Prosecutor Nomsa Kangara said on August 5, Zengeni’s wife returned home from work and discovered a firearm left unattended in a drawer.
When she confronted Zengeni about the weapon, he allegedly claimed it belonged to his employer, Chris Noble.
The wife argued that the firearm should not have been kept in the house overnight.
Zengeni subsequently rushed home and removed it.
However, tensions escalated when a dispute arose between his wife and his mother.
