A 36 year old man from Gwanda hanged himself after stabbing his girlfriend.
Matabeleland South spokesperson, Inspector Chiratidzo Dube, confirmed the tragic incident.
Dube said the incident happened last week when Nqobile Ncube dumped his wife and went to his homestead in Cornerline village in Gwanda with his girlfriend Untibile Ndlovu (30).
He took along his two children.
"The following morning his children came home and found the main door to the house locked from inside,” Dube said.
“They knocked on the door, but there was no response. They called an elderly neighbour, who opened a window and made one of the children to get inside and unlock the main door.”
Dube said Ncube was found him hanging from the roof truss, while his girlfriend was lying dead in a pool of blood with several stab wounds. It is believed that the man killed his girlfriend after accusing her of destroying his marriage.
