ZIMBABWE’S national fabric is selling like hot potatoes at the ongoing COP15 biodiversity conference in Victoria Falls, as delegates from around the world view the vibrant cloth as a cultural keepsake.
The fabric, featuring designs inspired by Zimbabwe’s flora, fauna and tradition, has been an attraction at the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority stand.
Anna van der Merwe, a delegate from the Netherlands, called it a “stunning representation of Zimbabwean identity”.
“Wearing this isn’t just fashion, it’s pride,” she said.
Koffi Adou from Côte d’Ivoire echoed the same sentiments.
“As Africans, we must embrace our heritage. This fabric tells a story, and I’m proud to take it home,” he said.
Officials manning the ZTA stand said they were overwhelmed by demand.
“The response has been incredible,” a ZTA representative said.
