THE Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) has strongly criticised Vice-President Kembo Mohadi for revisionism, accusing him of ignoring the suffering the ruling Zanu PF party has inflicted on the people of Matabeleland.
MRP was responding to remarks made by Mohadi during a recent visit to Khami Prison in Bulawayo, where he praised Zanu PF’s progress towards economic and political emancipation in the country.
MRP leader Mqondisi Moyo stated that Mohadi’s remarks whitewash Zanu PF’s brutal history, not only in Matabeleland, but across the country.
He emphasised that while Khami Prison served as a detention centre for liberation fighters, including Zapu nationalists and Umkhonto weSizwe members, it was also a site of torture and betrayal for many.
“While the prison may have symbolised a place of refuge for some, it remains a site marked by anguish, torture and betrayal for many others,” Moyo told Southern Eye.
“While Mohadi celebrates Zanu PF’s so-called achievements, the reality is that the party has oppressed, marginalised and impoverished the Ndebele people.
“We must critically examine the actions of Zanu PF, acknowledging the party’s role in perpetuating historical injustices and sustaining current patterns of marginalisation.”
Added Moyo: “His remarks expose a callous disregard for the suffering Zanu PF has caused.”

He argued that Zanu PF’s policies have systematically disadvantaged Matabeleland, leaving the region underdeveloped and excluded from national progress.
“Zanu PF’s economic policies have been ethnically biased, deliberately stifling growth in Matabeleland,” he said.
“Infrastructure neglect, unemployment and poverty persist because the party prioritises power over people.”
Moyo further accused Mohadi of betraying the Mthwakazi nation, stating that the VP has placed “personal and family interests” above the welfare of his own people.
“Despite their (Ndebele people) significant contribution to Zimbabwe’s history and development, they have been marginalised and excluded from meaningful participation in the country’s governance and economy,” the MRP leader
said.
“Claims of emancipation are hollow when the Ndebele remain marginalised.”
MRP insists that true liberation cannot be achieved without addressing historical injustices and ending the systemic oppression of Matabeleland.
