A CIVIC society organisation, Coast Guards, will hold a disciplinary boot camp targeting youths, training and encouraging them to be disciplined and abstain from drug and substance abuse.Coast Guards managing director Shawn Ndebele told Southern Eye that the disciplinary boot camp would be held from August 10 to 24 at Nyamandlovu.“We aim to train and encourage the youth to be disciplined and more importantly, abstain from drug and substance abuse, help those that are already addicted to detox and recover and instil discipline,” he said.Ndebele said they have a training camp in Killarney that runs throughout the year mainly focused on delinquents and drug addicts. The August camp is mainly focused on schoolgoers since it will be a holiday.“Schools are having challenges with rival drug peddlers and addicts,” Ndebele said.He highlighted that the course will include structured daily routine addiction awareness and recovery, values and identity sessions, as well as parent engagement workshops.“There would be 24-hour daily supervision by trained staff, secure controlled environment, nutritious meals provided on site and the team will include a disciplinary officer, child line and physical trainer, among others,” said Ndebele.
