
BULAWAYO City Council (BCC) approved building plans worth US$4,6 million as of April, a 2,32% increase from the previous month.
Latest council minutes indicate that the department of housing and community services handled 697 building plans in April.
“Of these, 381 were referred to other departments and are still to complete the process while 316 completed the process,” the minutes read.
“A possible total of US$63 208,04 was raised from plan submission fees."
Council also revealed that 1 659 inspections were carried out in April 2025, constituting a 11,87% rise from the previous month’s total.
"From these inspections, 75 buildings were issued with occupation certificates, 33 dilapidated buildings were visited and four public buildings were assessed,” the minutes read.
“A possible total of US$10 635 was raised from building inspections and other building control activities captured in the report.
“Of the revisited properties, one property had fully complied with instructions, three were in the process of fully complying, while 26 were yet to make attempts to comply.”
