A THIRTY-FIVE man from Plumtree beat up a local woman for turning down his love proposal.
The suspect, Lesson Moyo, appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware facing two charges of malicious damage to property and assault.
Moyo pleaded guilty to both charges and he was slapped with a $200 fine for assault.
He was also sentenced to 210 hours of community service for malicious damage to property.
Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa told the court that on an unnamed date, but early last month, Moyo visited the complainant at her residence and proposed love.
Moyo was turned down and he became furious saying the complainant had too much pride.
He became violent and assaulted her with a 20-litre tin full of oil before damaging some of her property.
Moyo was restrained by neighbours as he had gone berserk.
