Nkulumane market set to open

BVTA executive director Michael Ndiweni said they were preparing for the official opening as the project nears completion.

BULAWAYO’S Nkulumane market is set to open this monthend, with vendors already being allocated bays, Southern Eye has heard.

The project is being implemented by Bulawayo Vendors and Traders Association (BVTA) in conjunction with Bulawayo City Council, Dan Church Aid and United Nations Development Programme Zimbabwe.

BVTA executive director Michael Ndiweni said they were preparing for the official opening as the project nears completion.

“We are set to officially open the market at the end of this month,” he said.

“Our partners are working around the clock putting final touches and we are certain that construction will be completed anytime soon.”

The market consists of 16 bays and will be mainly for vendors who sell horticultural produce.

About 400 farmers around Bulawayo are set to benefit from a ready market as suppliers.

The market will be serving western suburbs like Pumula South, Pumula Old, Emakhandeni, Entumbane, Cowdray Park and Richmond.

Ndiweni said the market is open to anyone who is into horticulture farming and that they are currently preparing for a market fair scheduled for June 28.
