Police in Zvimba have launched a manhunt for an armed gang that pounced on a wholesale shop at Murombedzi Growth Point and made away with US$29,700, Thursday morning.
In a statement, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said six unidentified suspects, armed with pistols and iron bars, attacked a security guard manning the shop at midnight before executing a movie-style break-in.
“The perpetrators then proceeded to the manager’s residence, where they broke in, attacked a victim and stole a cellphone.
“The manager was then force-marched to his office at the wholesale, where the suspects stole US$29,700 in cash from a safe,” ZRP wrote while appealing to anyone with information to report to their nearest police station.
