THE countdown to the Mr and Miss Rural Matabeleland North pageant has begun.
Forty-four contestants are preparing to showcase their skills, culture and charm in a bid to land the coveted titles.
The provincial auditions were done early this year.
Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, pageant founder Sipho Mazibuko said the competition would be held on May 31.
“The Miss Rural Matabeleland North edition will be held in Lupane on May 31,” she said.
“The models are from all the districts in Matebeleland North, including Tsholotsho, Lupane, Binga and Bubi, among others.”
Added Mazibuko: “There are 44 contestants for both the Mr and Miss Rural titles and the majority are girls. They are 34 and the boys are only 10.
“We have various tribes competing, which include Tongas, Nambiyas, Ndebeles and Xhosas.”
