According to the latest council minutes, the city council director of engineering services, Simela Dube, reported to the city’s Town Lands and Development Committee that an application had been received from Khami District Better Schools Programme to establish the centre that aimed to meet information and learning needs of not only teachers and pupils, but also of the community.
“The centre would comprise of the district education offices, the library, conference facilities, hall and sporting grounds,” the application reads.
The application was circulated to other municipal departments and other service organisations and there were no adverse comments received, with chamber secretary Sikhangele Zhou recommending that rentals be at $90 excluding tax.
“The non-title survey costs were to be borne by the applicant. The stand would be suitably fenced and gated. All building developments on the stand would be in accordance with council’s approved plans and by-laws,” the minutes read.
The council said all Zesa and TelOne servitudes covering the property would be observed while there was need for water, sewer mains extension and the costs were to be borne by the applicant.
The Town Lands and Planning Committee had resolved to recommend that a portion of stand 6220 Luveve, which was proposed, stand 9758 Luveve measuring 1,54 hectares as depicted on TPA 9602, be leased to Khami District Better Schools Programme for the purposes of establishing a District resource centre at a monthly rental of $90.
